Saugeen Shores, ON – The Town’s campaign to raise funds for its Aquatic & Wellness Centre has hit another milestone after a significant donation from the community’s largest employer.

At an event on Tuesday night, John Peevers, Bruce Power’s Director of Community, Media Relations & Economic Development presented Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau with a cheque for $500,000 towards the AWC’s “Just Add Water” Campaign. A host of Town dignitaries as well as business owners and community partners were on hand to watch the cheque presentation.

“This donation is another example of how Bruce Power has dived right in to support one of its host communities,” said Charbonneau. “The Aquatic & Wellness Centre will be an accessible fitness facility for the entire community and its visitors for generations. I want to thank Bruce Power for their generous support as we grow together.”

“Bruce Power is extremely proud to be presenting this donation to the Aquatic & Wellness Centre, and it is rooted in a strong understanding of our role within the community,” said Peevers. “While we may be known for producing clean, reliable electricity for Ontario and producing cancer-fighting medical isotopes used worldwide, we are also deeply committed to sponsoring important local initiatives that improve the health, wellness and vibrancy of the community in which we operate.”

The Aquatic & Wellness Centre will be a state-of-the-art facility that will house an eight-lane pool, as well as a fitness and wellness centre. It is one of the Town’s biggest capital projects to date and will serve as a regional recreational hub for decades to come.
